We will be playing a concert in Portland, Oregon on September 11, 2009. The New Dawn will be opening the concert for The Remains from Boston. The Remains opened for the Beatles on their last American tour in 1966. You can purchase tickets at Ticketweb.com. We put a link to their site on the links page. See you there.
The re-issue of our 1970 album is now in and available at Jackpot Records. Isaac and his crew at Jackpot did a terrific job. The new CD looks and sounds great. You can order at www.jackpotrecords.com . It's on the front page of their website this month. Check it out.
I had to shut the guest book down for awhile because we have a website that has been downloading dozens of ads for different prescription drugs onto the guestbook. I have had to delete 25 to 50 guestbook entrys everyday. A real pain. As soon as we figure out what to do, we will turn it back on. Thanks
I received word from Jackpot Records that the new CD of our 1970 album will be released on Feb. 24th, 2009. It will have the songs from the original album, plus three new ones that we recorded in the studio in 1971, but never released. Plus, pictures of the group from back then.
On May 14th, 2008, Bill Gartner, one of the original members of The New Dawn, lost his battle with cancer in McHenry, Illinois. I have started to write this short statement about Bill's passing on the groups website many many many times these past four months, but usually just sit here doing more thinking and remembering than writting. Bill was a best friend and I still have a hard time believing that he is gone. He was excited and looking forward to the new release of the 1970 album in the next month or…Read more
I received an e-mail today letting me know that Kenny Curl, one of those that we held the benefit dance for, passed away this past Tuesday. I am thankfull that we held the dance when we did and didn't wait another month or so. Kenny was there and seemed to really enjoy himself. Rest in peace my friend, and may God bless.
The benefit concert and dance last weekend was a huge success and alot of fun. Over $3000.00 was raised. For myself, it was not only a great feeling knowing that we were helping two friends that needed the help and removing some of the rust that had built up from not playing publically for a few years, but seeing my kids and grand-kids in the crowd dancing and having a good time was priceless.
Lucy in Kansas and Sergai in Belarus were the first to respond to the e-mail list check and each will receive a free "Rekindled" CD. Thanks once again to all of you who sign our e-mail list each month. It shows that we have fans in 140 different countries around the world. Cool.
We are approaching the Holidays fast, so I just wanted to take this time and wish all of you a very very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from The New Dawn.
We will be dusting off the guitars and drums to do a benefit concert and dance for two local people that need some help with medical expenses. One was seriously injured in an accident and doesn't have insurance. The other is fighting cancer. The benefit will be held at the V.F.W. hall in Willamina, Oregon on January 12th starting at 7:00 P.M. Two other local bands will also be performing. So, if you like good classic rock and happen to be in the area that saturday, be sure to stop and say Hi.
